Lotus Advisory — our story

Established in Bangkok

A practice built around one honest question.

Do people in the second half of life have enough space to think carefully about money? We believe not. Lotus Advisory exists to provide that space.

our story

How Lotus Advisory came to exist

Lotus Advisory grew out of a frustration that many of our founders shared personally. After turning 40, the financial decisions that had once felt distant — retirement drawdown, household asset allocation, annuity structures — began to feel pressing. The available resources were either too basic to be useful or too product-oriented to be trusted.

We opened our doors in Bangkok's Phra Nakhon district in 2019, initially offering a single reading circle of six people. The format worked. Participants arrived with half-formed questions and left with sharper ones — and, over subsequent meetings, with answers they had worked out themselves rather than received from a salesperson.

From that beginning we have developed three programmes, each addressing a distinct kind of financial question that adults in their 40s, 50s, and 60s tend to encounter. The common thread is our commitment to education without agenda.

our mission

What we are here to do

Lotus Advisory's purpose is to help adults approach financial decisions with greater clarity and confidence — not by telling them what to do, but by giving them the knowledge and the thinking space to work it out themselves.

Education, not advice

We build understanding. The decisions remain yours.

No product affiliations

We receive no commission from any financial institution. Our income comes from programme fees alone.

Small, thoughtful groups

Every programme is designed so that each person's particular situation can be heard.

our standards

How we maintain the quality of what we offer

Independence from product sales

Facilitators are required to disclose any financial relationships with third parties — and we accept none. Programme content is reviewed annually for any drift toward product advocacy.

Curated, reviewed materials

All readings, worksheets, and reference documents are selected or developed in-house and reviewed before each programme cycle. Sources are documented and available to participants on request.

Participant data protection

Personal financial details shared during workshops are treated with strict confidentiality. We do not share participant information with any third party. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details.

Post-programme feedback

Every participant receives a brief written feedback form at the close of each programme. Responses are read by the lead facilitator and inform the next revision of materials and facilitation approach.

Facilitator continuing study

Each facilitator maintains a personal reading practice and attends at least two relevant professional development events annually. Financial education is a field that changes; our facilitators keep pace with it.

Thai-context relevance

All materials are reviewed for accuracy in the Thai regulatory and cultural context. Generic international financial frameworks are adapted to reflect the specific circumstances of households in Thailand.

about the practice

Financial education for a specific moment in life

The financial decisions that adults face in their 40s, 50s, and 60s differ in kind from those of earlier life. Retirement is no longer a distant abstraction. Provident fund balances become relevant. The question of how savings held in gold or property might translate into usable income in later years becomes pressing. Family financial obligations — children's education, aging parents — overlap with personal planning in ways that most generic financial content does not address.

Lotus Advisory's programmes are designed specifically for this moment. The household balance sheet workshop addresses Thai-specific asset categories that standard international frameworks overlook. The annuities programme discusses the Thai-market products a participant is likely to encounter, with no recommendation to purchase any of them. The reading circle selects texts that treat adults as intelligent readers rather than consumers to be converted.

Bangkok's Phra Nakhon district, where our space is located, has long been a neighbourhood associated with reading, writing, and thoughtful conversation — close to the National Library, close to the river, and at some remove from the commercial centre. We chose it deliberately. The environment for financial education matters. We want participants to think, not to decide in a hurry.
